I am getting ready for our 5th annual trunk or treat event and the theme I picked is Harry Potter! I wanted to make a bubbling cauldron perfect for potions class! This was very fun and easy! It looks great in photos too.
You will need:
1. Cauldron (I found mine at Target. It was actually a serving bowl and came with a ladel)
2. Clear plastic ornaments- 50 count. These can be found at Michaels or Hobby Lobby
3. Glue gun and glue sticks
4. filler for the inside of the cauldron (I used a box and paper bags. foam would work)
5. String lights *optional*

While your glue gun is warming up, start putting your filler in your cauldron. I used a small box and crunched up paper bags. You could also use foam.

I used 50 plastic ornaments that I bought at Michaels. You could do more or less “bubbles” depending on the size of your cauldron. Take the tops off of the oranments. They should easily pop off. You won’t use them.

Glue each ornament into the cauldron. It’s going to look a little messy in the begining as you start, but just keep going! I promise it will all come together! Don’t worry so much about the top of the ornament, up close you notice where it is located, but when the bubbling cauldron is displayed you can’t tell. You may have to use hot glue on each point where the ornaments contact each other so that they stay in place and they are secure.

Add lights if you want. When we used it for our trunk or treat we left the lights off because during the daylight you could not tell they were on. When we displayed it at home, we added the lights!

So cute and so easy to make!

It turned out great for our Harry Potter trunk! I did have kids coming up to touch the “bubbles” in the cauldron and some of the toddlers pulled them off. Lol, it all can be fixed. I am just happy that everyone had a fun time at Trunk or Treat!
